Mustache Transplant

A mustache transplant is a treatment used for men who have little or no hair in the upper lip area. The hair follicles used for the transplant are taken from the back of the scalp (donor area), just as in a hair transplant procedure.

Using the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique and a 0.6 mm punch, individual hair follicles are carefully extracted from the donor area and transplanted one by one into the upper lip region to create a natural-looking mustache.

A mustache transplant can also be used to camouflage scars caused by injuries, surgery, burns, or other conditions that result in hair loss in the mustache area.

After the Beard and Mustache Transplant

After the beard or mustache transplant procedure, tiny blood clots may form around each transplanted hair follicle, giving the treated area a dark red appearance. This is completely normal and usually disappears after the first wash.

The transplanted area should be washed 24–48 hours after the procedure, following your doctor's instructions. Once the dried blood and clots are removed, the transplanted hairs become visible. Within two to three days, the beard or mustache begins to take on a more natural appearance.

It is normal for the transplanted hairs to shed within the first few weeks. This is a temporary phase known as "shock loss." New, permanent hair growth usually begins within 3–4 months, with full results becoming visible after approximately 8–12 months.
